Apparently celebrities get paid for taking part in a charity TV programme named '24 hours'. One of these celebrities gets angry at it and some concerned viewer/militant admirer sticks this on a train door: 'Celebrities appearing on ''24 hours'' get big money. They should all do it for free! Shoufukutei Urubei looked angry at it'.
I don't watch TV so I'm not familiar with Japanese celebrities, but after googling this celebrity I found out I've seen him before, and not a few times: he's everywhere advertising all kinds of things, McDonald's included, making big money himself, and then going to charity programmes and complain. 'Nough said.

lift conversations
People don't usually talk in the lift unless they refer to the floor they're aiming for or excuse themselves while squeezing out of a packed one. If we have a chatty day or the uneasy feeling we should make a comment, we rarely venture beyond the weather, that worn out wildcard. Well sometimes we do. This is what just happened to me at the Kanagawa Community Centre in Yokohama.
Doors slide open and a dressed-up old man comes into the lift pulling a suitcase. Doors slide closed and he turns to me and starts this conversation in a surprisingly good English:
-How you doing?
-Fine -I reply rather amused at the unexpected question and accent-. How about you?
-I'm leaving the country because I am contaminated.
-Oh... okay...
-You take care, you know, everything is radioactive.
-Thank you.
Doors slide open, he walks out of the lift and I follow.
-Well, good luck -I manage to say-.
-Yeah -he says-, you too.
'YOU TOO.'

Aste bat barru, milaka pertsona hil eta geure bizitzak, neurri batean edo bestean, aldatu zituen lurrikara eta tsunamia gertatu zirenetik bi hilabete beteko dira. Hona hemen Tokyon bertan, hondamenditik aldi berean urrun eta hurbil dagoen hirian, baina baita Yokohaman edo Osakan ere, eguneroko bizitzaren joanetorrietan ikusi eta egoera normala ez dela gogorarazten diguten detaileak.
Nabarmenena, begira behintzat, argi falta da. Falta, aurreko Tokyorekin alderatuz gero, jakina. Ondoko argazkiko kaletik txirringarekin maiz pasatzen naiz. Ez da behar bezala nabaritzen baina ikusten diren argiak argi pribatuak dira: etxebizitzetakoak, dendetakoak, txanpon-aparkaleku batekoak eta urrunean, auto batenak. Argazkiaren goiko aldean fijatzen bazarete, farola, hots, argi publikoa itzalirik dagoela ikusiko duzue. Flasha erabili behar izan nuen farola ikus zedin, ondorioz ez da nabaritzen baina kale honetan abiadura moteldu egiten dut beti, farola guztiak itzalita, 500 metro inguruko ibilbidea hain ilun egonagatik ez bait den ongi ikusten.

Public announcements in the streets of Japan are common. (They tell children it's time to go home at dusk, for instance). There is a certain type no one wants to hear though: the one announcing a potential catastrophe. On March 11 2011 we had one of those. This track is inspired by the sound of these public announcements. The lyrics are dedicated to the victims of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami and Fukushima plant refugees, but also to the victims of misinformation. Following the terrible event, not a few western media embarked on the spreading of the idea that the worst was yet to come. Having no evidence on what they were publishing, thus showing their eagerness for something worse to happen and pushing thousands of expats to flee and their families to suffer unnecessarily.

He had to take the plane
The guys with pens always know better
They show you things you cannot see

Blog honetan nire lanaz eta pentsaeraz elkarbanatu nahi dudana agertzen da. Besteen lana ez dut askotan erakusten. Honako hau, ez da nire lana, Rico Tobitarena baizik. Ahalik eta jende genienak ikus dezan nahi dut, horregatik, Ricoren baimenarekin, bere lana ikusiko duzue ondoren.
Ondoko lana 2011ko Martxoak 11n Japoniako Iparekialdea suntsitu zuen lurrikararen ondoko hurrengo 9 egunak hartzen dituen Rico Tobitaren eguneroko pertsonala da. 10. eguneko argazkian ate tradizionaletako arroz papera kentzen ikus dezakegu Rico. Etxean materialik ez eta dendak itxita zeudenez gero, arroz paper hau erabiliko zuen Ricok bere lana burutzeko. Erromantikoa zela ere pentsatu zuen aitak eta amak jarritako paper zahar bera erabiltzea. Testu eta argazkiak arroz paper horretan inprimatu zituen, beraz. Elkarrekin itsatsi zituen ondoren, 1x1 metroko orriak bilduz. Paperaren atzean egunsentia eta loratutako gereziondoak margotu zituen eta egunkarietatik hartutako tsunamiak suntsitutako lurraren argazkiak itsatsi zituen gero. Lertxuna egin zuen papera tolestuaz. "Lertxunak itsaso gainetik hegan egingo du eta jendeari istorioa kontatuko die". Lertxuna ITS (Nazioarteko Talentu Laguntza)-ra bidali zuen ondoren.

This blog is all about what I do and feel like sharing, sometimes. I rarely upload someone else's work. This is one of those rare times. With Rico's permission, I want to do my bit for this work to reach the maximum amount of people possible.
This is a work by Rico Tobita. It is her picture diary for the next 9 days after the earthquake that hit North Eastern Japan on March 11 2011. Day 10 picture shows her ripping rice paper off Japanese traditional sliding doors at her house in order to be able to work on this project, as there was no material or proper paper in the house and shops were not open those days. She thought it romantic that her work would be made out of old paper that once her father and mother pasted on the very same door. She printed all the text and the pictures on the rice paper sheets. Then she pasted them together to make 1m × 1m sheets. On the backside of the paper, she painted the rising sun and cherry blossoms, and pasted devastated land after tsunami cuts out from newspapers. Then she folded a crane. "The crane that is to fly over the sea and tell people the story." The crane was sent out to ITS (International Talent Support) in Italy.
The epilogue of this project is somehow unexpected yet closes the circle of life and death represented in it. Rico explains what happened after she ripped the rice paper off the doors:
"Because I used all the rice paper on the doors, there were only door frames left. A bird tried to fly into the room, but it couldn't see the glass. If I hadn't ripped the rice papers, it would not have died. R.I.P. The bird. "
